WWE "No Mercy" - SmackDown Pay-Per-View

Location: The Toyota Center, Houston, Texas

by "Rockin" Robin Drodge

Event Date:  October 9, 2005
Report Date:  October 9, 2005

Match Number One - Six-person Tag Team Match.  WWE Tag Team Champions, Road Warrior Animal, Heidenreich and Christy Hemme Vs. Mercury, Nitro and Melina (MNM).  This was the opening match at No Mercy.  The match was all right and the ending saw Christy hit the Doomsday Device on Melina to pick up the Pin-fall victory for her team.

Match Number Two - Bobby Lashley Vs. Simon Dean.  This match was all right.  Bobby Lashley hit the Dominator to pick up the Pin-fall victory.

Match Number Three - Fatal Four-Way United States Championship Match.  United States Champion, Chris Benoit, Vs. Booker T. Vs. Orlando Jordan and Christian.  The rules for this match are that all four superstars would be wrestling in the ring at the same time, and the first person to score a Pin-fall or Submission would win the match and the Championship.  This match was all right.  The ending saw Chris Benoit apply the Sharpshooter on Christian to make him tap out to the move to retain his Championship.

Match Number Four - Mr. Ken Kennedy Vs. Hardcore Holly.  This match was all right.  Mr. Kennedy ended up picking up the Pin-fall victory with the use of his finisher, the Samoan Drop, from the second rope.

Match Number Five - Rey Mysterio Vs. John “Bradshaw” Layfield (JBL).  This match was all right.  The ending saw Mysterio hit JBL with the 619 and then attempted to go for the West Coast Pop, but he missed it.  JBL hit him with the Clothesline from Hell to pick up the Pin-fall victory.

Match Number Six - Handicap Casket Match.  The Undertaker Vs. Randy and “Cowboy” Bob Orton.  The rule for this match is that The Undertaker had to place both Ortons into the casket and close the lid in order to win the match, and if the Orton’s placed The Undertaker in the casket and closed the lid they would win.  This match was all right.  The Undertaker had hit The Last Ride and then placed Randy Orton into the casket.  His father “Cowboy” Bob Orton was already in the casket.  The Undertaker tried to close the lid, however he could not.  “Cowboy” Bob Orton used a fire extinguisher to blind The Undertaker.  Then Randy hit the RKO and tried to put The Undertaker into the casket, however this did not happen.  The ending saw Randy’s father hit The Undertaker in the head with a fire extinguisher; then it was followed up with a steel chair shot.  The Undertaker was then placed in the casket and the lid was closed, which resulted in Randy and his father “Cowboy” Bob Orton winning the match.

Match Number Seven - WWE Cruiserweight Championship.  WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Nunzio Vs. Juventud.  This match was all right.  The ending saw Juventud hit the Juvi Driver to pick up the Pin-fall victory to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Match Number Eight - the Main Event.  World Heavyweight Championship.  World Heavyweight Champion, Batista, Vs. Eddie Guerrero.  This match was all right.  The ending saw Eddie Guerrero try to hit the Frog Splash from off the top rope, however he missed and then Batista hit a second Spinebuster to pick up the Pin-fall victory to retain his Championship.

Some additional comments regarding No Mercy.

ü      There was no announcement of how many fans were in attendance, so I can only assume that this Pay-Per-View was not sold out.

ü      This was not the best Pay-Per-View because WWE did not promote it very well.  Not many people knew about No Mercy because the WWE was so focused on RAW's return to the USA Network that it appeared that they had forgotten about this Pay-Per-View.
