Match
number one - WWE™
Tag Team Championship:
WWE™
Tag Team Champions MNM vs
Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal.
This was the opening match for the Great American Bash.
The fans seem to be into this match a little with chants of
LOD, LOD. The ending
saw Animal and Heidenreich hit the Doomsday Device on MNM
to pick up the pin-fall victory to win the match and become the new WWE™
Tag Team Champions.
Match
number two - Christian vs Booker T.
This match was all right.
The ending saw Booker T hit the Scissors kick off the second
rope to pick up the pin-fall victory.
Match
number three - United States Championship:
United States Champion, Orlando Jordan vs Chris Benoit.
This match was all right.
The ending saw Jordan expose the turn buckle pad and when
Benoit went for a german suplex, Benoit did not hit the suplex;
instead hitting his head on the expose turn buckle pad, resulting in
Orlando picking up the pin-fall victory to retain his Championship.
Match
number four - Number One Contenders match for the World
Heavyweight Championship. The
Undertaker vs Muhammad Hassan.
This match was all right.
The ending saw the Undertaker hit the choke slam on Hassan to
pick up the pin-fall victory to become the Number One Contender for
the World Heavyweight Championship.
Match
number five - Six
Man Tag Team Match. The
Mexicools vs The Blue World Order (BWO).
This match was all right.
The Mexicools picked up the pin-fall victory in this match.
Match
number six - Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerrero.
This was a good match. Rey
Mysterio's son Dominic was at ringside for this match.
Eddie guerrero was holding a secret over Rey Mysterio's head,
and in this match if Eddie won he would be able to reveal the
secret; but if Rey won he would have to keep the secret locked up
forever. The ending to
this match saw Eddie hit a brain buster on Rey and then hit the frog
splash off the top rope and then went for the cover.
However, Eddie only got a one count and then Rey rolled up
Eddie to pick up the pin-fall victory.
So the secret will be locked up forever it appears.
Match
number seven - Bra and Panties Match.
Torrie Wilson vs Melina, with Candice Michelle as the special
guest referee for this match. The
rule for this match was the first person that got stripped down to
their bra and panties would lose the match.
This was rather short and did not last long.
Torrie got stripped down to her bra and panties; therefore
this resulted in Melina winning the match.
After the Bra and Panties Match was over, Candice Michelle
stripped Melina of her bra and panties and then Candice also
stripped, so all three Divas were stripped of their bra and panties.
Match
number eight - The Main Event.
World Heavyweight Championship.
World Heavyweight Champion, Batista vs John
"Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL).
This match was all right but nothing great. Orlando Jordan brought a steel chair into the ring and it was
later used by Batista to hit both Jordan and JBL. Once Batista hit JBL with the steel chair, the referee saw it
and disqualified Batista, resulting in John "Bradshaw"
Layfield (JBL) to win the match by disqualification.
Some
additional comments regarding The Great American Bash™.
I must
say that there was no announcement of how many fans were in
attendance for this Pay-Per-View but I had heard that it was far
from sold out and this was not that long ago.
The
fans did not seem to be into this Pay-Per-View for the most part.
I was a little surprised that Road Warrior Animal and
Heidenreich won the Tag team Championship because really they are
not a Team and MNM
had the belts and it did not appear that they would lose the belts
to the team of what some are calling LOD 2005, so this was a little
surprising. I don't think that they will hold onto the belts for that
long and will lose them back to MNM at some time.
I
don't exactly know what to say about this Pay-Per-View because for
the most part it was really bad, and quite frankly, SmackDown™
for whatever reason can't
seem to be able to deliver a good Pay-Per-View.
I don't know if it had to do with the fact that SmackDown™
is a taped show or not,
but this Pay-Per-View was very bad tonight.
I think that the Muhammad Hassan character for now is done
but will return after a few months.
This has to do with the recent controversy of being labelled
as a terrorist, so UPN™,
the network that SmackDown™
airs on in the United
States asked the WWE™
not to air the Muhammad
Hassan character anymore. While
tonight may have been his last night on Smackdown™
for some time, I don't
think that the character is done just quite yet.
I did
not like the way that the World Heavyweight Championship match ended
between Batista and JBL. I think to have a disqualification was a
bad way to end the match. So I think that in future matches for the World Heavyweight
Championship, there should be no count out or disqualification.
